NAOMI V. DUNSEN-WHITE, writes Children’s Books, but not just any publications young eyes and minds. AS AN EDUCATOR, FOSTER CARE SPECIALIST, MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER, Dunsen-White uses her background, experience, and creative gifts to close diversity gaps, where young readers can visualize themselves as her books’ main characters. Dunsen-White, who is African American, writes primarily for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) children To date, the author has penned three books. The first, Johari The Great, follows the journey of a boy, his vivid imagination, and always sharpened and ready pencil! His teacher inspires Johari to trust his imagination when writing. Johari’s family and friends also encourage the young boy to use his literary gift, motivating him to become a contest winner amid mystery, fun, and humor. According to Dunsen-White, the origin of Johari The Great started as an idea and birthday gift she wanted to present to her eldest grandson, Johari.
